Raised beds available at Cottonwood.

Raised Bed Garden Plots Available

For People with Health Problems, Arthritis,

Knee or Back Problems, Seniors

or People with Disabilities

Cottonwood Community Garden has three beautiful raised beds available for anyone who wants to garden, and who has difficulty bending to garden in the ground.

The raised beds are easy to use – they are about 2½’ high so it’s easy to garden from a chair or wheelchair, they are narrow enough to easily reach across, they have water taps right at the bed, and they have drip watering systems.  The pathways are smooth and easy to walk or wheel on.

Anyone who has difficulty bending to garden in the ground is welcome to use these special raised beds. We welcome people who have arthritis, people with knee or back problems, people with chronic health problems, seniors, people with disabilities, or anyone who finds it hard to garden in the ground.

If you are interested, please call Cottonwood Garden at (604) 608-0384.

Please pass this message along to anyone who you think might be interested.

Cottonwood Community Garden is located in East Vancouver at the north side of Strathcona Park (on Prior, between Main & Clark Drive – the accessible raised beds are on the east side of the Park, along Raymur).

Cottonwood is a large forest-like 4 acre community garden with beautiful common areas including a native garden; Asian garden; youth garden; permaculture garden; rose garden; blueberries, raspberries, Saskatoon berries, mulberries, apples, pears, Asian pears, persimmons, grapes, kiwis, cherries, currants, figs, plums, hazelnuts; and countless varieties of ornamental shrubs and perennials.   We have 140 large garden plots, 10 of which are fully accessible for seniors and people with disabilities.  We are home to many species of birds, including a pair of nesting bald eagles.

Membership fees are $5/year; plot fees are $15/year.

We work cooperatively to maintain the beautiful common areas & run our garden.
