Easy Apple Sauce Recipe

I say head to your local farmers market grab some apples and make some yummy apple sauce to be enjoyed all year winter long. Ask the farmer for advice om which apples make a great sauce; famers love sharing.

Yummy local apples


  • 4 apples – peeled, cored and chopped
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup white sugar (Optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

You can add more flavor with nutmeg or brown sugar. Kids love other flavors so think of adding berries or berry juices (instead of water) .


  1. In a saucepan, combine apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Cover, and cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until apples are soft. Allow to cool, then mash with a fork or potato masher.

Yummy apple sauce. Tasting great all winter.


You can can Apple sauce- follow all the instructions of canning. Sterilizing jars, filling to 1/2 inch from top, boil filled jars for 20 minutes. If you do not hear the pop click noise eat those jar within a few days. The other jars can be enjoyed through the winter.
